Kirsten Newman, LMHC
I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), post-partum doula, and certified EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) practitioner. I have experience helping women, men, families, new parents, adolescents, and emerging adults navigate and heal mental health and emotional challenges as well as stressful life circumstances and transitions.
Do you feel isolated? Maybe it’s anxiety, the life changes that come with becoming a parent, or through the loss of someone important in your life.
Do you wonder if your relationships are healthy, or if there is a way to make more meaningful connections with others?
Perhaps you don’t identify as an “angry person” and yet find yourself unable to let go of anger towards a person or event in your past. Maybe you’re simply searching for a more meaningful connection with yourself.
Talking with a therapist specializing in these areas can help you live a more enriched, fulfilling life where you feel better equipped to navigate past, current, and future stresses.
If you have recently started a family, given birth, or are expanding your family, there can be overwhelming emotions, complicated relationship dynamics, and hormonal shifts to navigate while caring for your loved ones.
Talking with a therapist who understands the changes taking place, who is here to listen and help you process these complexities, can help you regain control over your life at a time when everything may feel chaotic.
If you live with panic attacks, depression, PTSD, or trauma, or if you feel like there is something in life that just isn’t clicking or is holding you back, EMDR may be an appropriate addition to a new or established therapeutic relationship.
This scientifically-proven technique changes how your brain stores a painful memory and lets you process the memory safely, without triggering a traumatic response.
If this sounds like something that may be useful, please read more on my EMDR page and let’s talk about whether this is the right option for you.
